Data Architect

In this role, you will deliver actionable, data-driven insights that inform real-time decision-making and long-term strategy. Youll partner with cross-functional leaders, leverage cutting-edge AI and analytics tools, and help TELUS advance its mission of making AI more accessible, reliable, and impactful. Key Responsibilities: Design & Develop a Data Model: Design & maintain data model for TELUSs AI business to ensure data quality standards and efficient data processing Data Strategy & Roadmapping: Define and implement a data strategy that supports both current and future business initiatives, identifying transformational opportunities to maximize data value. Architectural Design & Implementation: Develop and maintain scalable data models, architectures, and pipelines using BI tools (e.g., Sisense) and cloud-based platforms (e.g., BigQuery) to support complex analytics needs. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., Analytics, Engineering, Product) to ensure the data ecosystem meets evolving business requirements and drives actionable insights. Advocacy for Data Standards: Advocate in the organization for data best practices, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong data governance. Quality & Governance: Establish and maintain robust data quality standards and governance frameworks, ensuring reliable, trustworthy data. Continuous Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies, continuously evolving the data architecture to improve efficiency, scalability, and accessibility. Core Competencies: Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data architectures Strategic thinking and strong communication skills to align data initiatives with organizational goals Leadership by influence, mentoring team members to achieve a data-driven culture Strong problem-solving and adaptability in a rapidly evolving environment Meticulous attention to data quality, security, and compliance Functional Competencies: Expertise in data modeling, warehouse design, and BI architectures Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases (BigQuery), relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server), and related GCP technologies Proficiency in programming (Python, R, SQL) for data processing, integration, and automation Solid understanding of data governance, data lineage, and data cataloging practices Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field 3+ years of experience in data architecture design and implementation 3+ years of experience leading data projects and teams to deliver measurable business value Demonstrated success in strategic planning, aligning data initiatives with business objectives, and effectively communicating that vision Proven ability to mentor and develop diverse data teams, cultivating a high-performance and data-centric culture Track record of implementing complex data models in enterprise BI tools (e.g., Google Looker Studio, PowerBI, Sisense) and leveraging cutting-edge data infrastructure and governance frameworks If this opportunity sounds appealing to you, apply now!
