Summary Art in Tanzania runs safari and tour operations in Tanzania as part of its NGO fundraising efforts. Interns assist in developing tour programs, guiding and marketing our tours and safaris. Details Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Each year, we receive around 250 participants in our community placements. Art in Tanzania differentiates itself from the safari and tourism industry by offering sustainable travel options. Tour agents commonly sell safaris in the Western world, but only a portion of the revenue generated goes to Tanzania to support the local economy. Typically, villages surrounding famous national parks are among the poorest in the region. The profits from our tours benefit Tanzania by supporting the local economy and community development. Academic-level team leaders supervise your internship daily. We also monitor your progress with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you stay on track in your study program. The internship outcome is learning to apply your education and gain experience implementing it in developing-country conditions with limited capacity, as well as a better understanding of the opportunities in a fast-growing economy. Work hours are 6 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities. Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work. The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having run since 1996.  You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours. We typically have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as various professions. Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the Tanzania training. Contact your student office for more information about the grants.
