International trainee / Tampere Welcoming City Development Program

Through the trainee programme, you can complete your university internship and get a good start to your career. The City of Tampere Trainee Programme runs from 18 Aug to 19 Dec 2025. You will be paid for your traineeship period. The University internship voucher would be an advantage. We work in a hybrid working model allowing flexible remote and office working hours in several tasks. International Trainee Programme is targeted at international students or newly graduated international students from Finnish universities. International Trainee Programme is carried out in English. Some of the meetings are organized in cooperation with the Trainee Programme for the Finnish speakers, and you will be part of Finnish-speaking workplace community. You will be able to practice your Finnish skills, even though you can use English in your actual work. There will be a Finnish club for the International Trainees to improve their Finnish skills. Tampere Welcoming City is development program launched by the city of Tampere in the beginning of 2024. The development program operates in Policy and International Affairs Unit. The aim of the program is to work with diverse aspects of internationalization and improve the attraction and retention of international residents in Tampere. We are looking for an international student to help us develop Tampere as an international and welcoming city for everyone. As a trainee, your main task is to support the program work in assisting role. You will have a chance to help organizing trainings for associations, help with event and meeting organisation, and help developing the services of the city for non-Finnish speakers. Your internship may also include supporting tasks in Policy and International Affairs Unit. You will be required to perform general administrative tasks as needed, so flexibility is appreciated. Depending on your skills and interests, there may be opportunities to take on additional tasks. We require minimum two years higher education studies. To succeed in this position, you must be fluent in written and spoken English. It will be beneficial if you have good IT and analytical skills. To be successful in your internship, we hope that you are a flexible person and have good self-management skills.
